Halton Hills Fibre Optics Brings Broadband To Ontario Communities With WaveRider's Wireless Systems

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 22, 2005) -

Utility company affiliate expands services with high-speed wireless alternative to wireline Internet access

WaveRider Communications Inc. (OTCBB:WAVR), the leader in non-line-of-sight wireless broadband technology and deployments today announced that Hummingbird Wireless, a division of Halton Hills Fibre Optics and Halton Hills Hydro, has introduced wireless broadband services to its subscribers in Ontario via WaveRider's non-line-of-sight technology.

The company is now delivering high-speed Internet access to business and residential subscribers and plans to increase its customer base as it expands its network this year. All Halton Hills subscribers are connected to the network via WaveRider indoor wireless modems that can be installed quickly and easily.

"Using wireless technology enables us to offer our subscribers reliable and affordable high-speed services, and to install and expand our networks faster than with any other technology," said Dan Guatto, President, Halton Hills Fibre Optics Inc.

"While there are other broadband access options available in our region, we are able to reach customers in more areas and ensure the service levels they expect from a broadband provider." said Arthur Skidmore, Chief Financial Officer, Halton Hills Fibre Optics Inc.

Hummingbird Wireless has installed several WaveRider 900 MHz LMS4000 wireless base stations throughout its services area, and is currently deploying additional sites as part of its network expansion plan. Each base station delivers broadband access to subscribers and supports advanced applications including VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).

"WaveRider's wireless systems are ideal for our region," added Skidmore. "The non-line-of-sight capabilities enabled us to deploy in areas where there are hills and dense tree coverage. The WaveRider equipment is also co-existing with the Halton Hills Hydro SCADA systems, without any interruptions or interference to either network."

"WaveRider is working with utility companies and their affiliates across North America to help them deploy wireless networks and offer Internet services," said Charles Brown, Chief Executive Officer, WaveRider Communications Inc. "These companies are establishing a strong subscriber base and delivering the advanced services and applications that their customers need today."
