Hana Mining Reports Update of Corporate Activities and Exploration at Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2008) - Hana Mining Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:HMG)(FRANKFURT:4LH) is pleased to report an update of corporate activities and exploration at its sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. The property comprises 4,367 km2 in five contiguous licenses in northwest Botswana and covers an area over 150 km long and 40 km wide; this is slightly larger than the entire Zambian Copper Belt that hosts nearly 30% of the worlds copper resource.

In June 2007 a NI43-101 report was completed and filed with the TSX venture exchange in which Gencor /Billiton recognized the potential for a non-compliant mineral resource of 723 million tonnes grading 0.5% copper. Click link to see report - http://www.hanamining.com/i/pdf/TechnicalReport.pdf.

Hana has raised $5 million since May 2007 and began drilling activities at the Ghanzi project with one diamond drill rig in September 2007. The program and has since expanded to include 2 diamond drill rigs, 1 reverse circulation rig and 2 percussion rigs.

To date a total of 12,278 meters of diamond drilling in 81 holes has been completed as well as 4,152 meters in 35 holes of RC drilling and 3,879 meters in 42 holes of percussion drilling. Over 2000 samples are currently in the lab waiting to be assayed. Drilling has focused on Zones 1 and 2 along the north and south limbs of a doubly plunging anticline as well as Zones 5 and 6, 60 and 95 kilometers north of the anticline, respectively. See Figures 1 and 2.

At Zone 1 drilling has delineated continuous copper-silver mineralization over 2,500 meters and 2,400 meters in two areas 5 km apart. At Zone 2 drilling has delineated continuous mineralization over 3,800 meters on the south limb and 1,000 meters in a new discovery on the north limb. Ground and airborne geophysics suggest Zones 1 and 2 are contiguous and constitute a single folded mineralized horizon with 60 kilometers of cumulative strike length. See Figure 2.

At Zone 5, 60 km north of Zones 1 and 2, drilling has been carried out over a 2,500 meter strike length and at Zone 6, located 35 km north of Zone 5 and 95 km north of Zones 1 and 2, drilling has been completed over 1,700 meters of strike. Results for this drilling are pending.

In summary, 81 diamond drill holes have been completed and 80 have intersected copper-silver mineralization. Similarly, 35 RC holes have been completed and 32 have intersected mineralization.

A total of 53 line-kilometers of IP and 22 line-kilometers of HLEM geophysical surveys have been completed. Both systems have been successful in identifying the horizon that hosts the copper-silver mineralization. In addition to the ground surveys, government aeromagnetic data has been reprocessed and interpreted resulting in the identification of a number of folds that have several repetitions of the target horizon.

Collectively, more than 500 kilometers of target horizon have been interpreted. This is an exceptionally large system and only 3%, of the 500 kilometers have been drill tested so far.

Two campaigns of soil sampling have been implemented. The first campaign consisted of more than 4100 samples at 25 meter spacing in Zones 1, 2 and 4. This program successfully delineated linear copper-in-soil anomalies in all of the zones. A second campaign of sampling consisting of more than 3000 samples has recently been completed to test portions of the target horizon at 25 meter spacing along lines spaced 2.5 to 5.0 kilometers apart. Detailed follow-up sampling will be carried out.

Hana in Botswana

Hana has opened an office in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, and has hired a country advisor. As well, Hana currently has 23 permanent employees in Botswana with the goal of improving employee skills through training. Hana utilizes local contractors and consultants when feasible.

Environmental Compliance

Hana completed an Environmental Baseline Assessment in May 2008 and has implemented a water borehole monitoring program. Drill site cleanup is compliant with PDAC recommended guidelines.

Plans for the Next 6 Months

Ongoing exploration is currently focused on Zones 1, 7 and 8 (see Figure 1). Future exploration will focus on infill drilling along both limbs of the anticline between Zones 1 and 2. The interpreted target horizon at Zones 1 and 2 has a collective strike length of 60 km. In addition, drilling will test geophysical and geochemical targets along the prospective horizon.

Hana will also embark on a metallurgical study to characterize the mineralization and determine optimal processing parameters for the project. A hydrogeological study will also be carried out before the end of 2008.
