Hana Mining Results at Ghanzi Property Return Widest Intercept to Date

2.06 %Cu and 16.9 g/t Ag over 24 meters true width

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2008) - Hana Mining Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:HMG)(FRANKFURT:4LH) is pleased to report the results of new copper-silver mineralization at its sediment-hosted Ghanzi Copper-Silver Project in Botswana. Ten reverse circulation holes, HA-16-R to HA-25-R, were drilled on the north limb of a syncline at Zone 5 along a 1,200 meter strike length (see maps below). Seven of the holes intersected significant mineralization over wide intercepts.

Intercepts reported are intersection length and are estimated to be approximately 60% of true width for vertical holes HA-17 and 18-R; all others holes are drilled at -60 degrees and estimated to be 80% or more of true width. Drilling at Zone 5 was designed to test the projected continuation of mineralization intersected in two diamond drill holes drilled by Anglo American and spaced 10 kilometers apart. Holes HA-16, 17 and -18-R were drilled on the same section; all other holes were drilled at 200 meter spacing. HA-16-R was a pilot hole collared in footwall sandstone and terminated; hole HA-23-R was stopped short of the mineralized horizon. The mineralization encountered in this program far exceeded the Anglo results and shows the potential of this zone as well as the remarkable continuity of the system within the license area. Mineralization included Cu-oxides and native copper along with chalcopyrite and bornite. Highlights include hole HA-17-R that returned 1.81 %Cu and 13.4 g/t Ag over a true width of 9.6 meters at a vertical depth of 70 meters and included 2.23 %Cu and 17.4 g/t Ag over a true width of 7.2 meters. Hole HA-25-R, collared 1,200 meters southwest of HA-17-R, returned the widest intercept encountered on the property so far; 2.06 %Cu and 16.9 g/t Ag over 24 meters true width at a vertical depth of 60 meters. The zone is open and results for 5 more holes drilled along an 800 meter strike length to the southwest and 3 more holes drilled along a 600 meter strike length to the northeast are pending (see map of Zone 5). Two diamond drill holes are planned to characterize geology and provide samples for metallurgical testing. This area is 60 kilometers north of Zones 1 and 2 where much of the initial exploration on the property was carried out.

RC drilling is currently testing a parallel fold structure at Zone 8 located 40 kilometers northeast of Zone 5.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control

Hana has implemented an industry-standard QA/QC program. A 35-40 kilogram sample is collected from the cyclone discharge at 1 meter intervals. The sample is then split 75/25; 75% of the sample is archived and the other 25% provides material for analysis. Three meter composite samples from 3 successive intervals are collected from the split of each 1 meter interval. The composited sample is submitted for analysis and the 75%-split is reserved for more detailed 1 meter follow-up sampling and analysis of mineralized intervals. All samples are double bagged, sealed and transported in secured wooden crates and shipped to Scientific Services Laboratory in Cape Town, South Africa. Standards, blanks and duplicates are inserted into the sample stream for diamond drill and RC samples.
