Hanfeng Teams With China's Ministry of Agriculture for Soil Test-Based Fertilization Trials Using SCU and SCF

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 20, 2008) - Hanfeng Evergreen Inc. ("Hanfeng" or the "Company")(TSX:HF), a leading producer of slow and controlled release fertilizers in China, announced today that the Company and the National Agro-Tech Extension and Service Center (NATESC), a division of the Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) has signed a two-year agreement to jointly conduct soil test-based fertilization trials using Hanfeng's sulfur coated urea (SCU) and sulfur coated compound fertilizer (SCF) as part of the 2008-2010 Sulfur Application Field Trial Plan issued by the Ministry of Agriculture.

The adaptive trials are based on specific soil conditions and will study the response of sulfur and slow release fertilization on yield and crop quality as well as acquaint farmers with the most scientific and efficient SCU and SCF applications. By using SCU and SCF, the trials will also address issues related to conventional fertilizers, such as over fertilization, decreasing soil fertility, and environmental problems, including groundwater pollution and carbon dioxide emission. By capitalizing on the technical advantages of NATESC and the network of provincial level divisions of the Ministry of Agriculture, Hanfeng's SCU and SCF will be delivered for testing through the government channel to a broad group of farmers beginning in 2009 in six provinces including Liaoning, Henan, Guangxi, Yunnan, Shandong and Shannxi.

Under the program, NATESC will administer all elements of soil-test based fertilization trials, including publishing results. Based on successful findings, Hanfeng will receive NATESC and MOA endorsements, as well as their assistance in promoting the SCU and SCF products on a national level.

Mr. Gao Xiangzhao, Director of the Soil & Fertilizer Technology Division of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Peoples Republic of China, stated that "In addition to being the national standard in China, Hanfeng's SCU and SCF address many of the issues that are critical to the future of the agriculture industry in China. Previous field trials carried out by Dr. Yuan Longping and the Company, with the support from other provincial governmental divisions, has demonstrated Hanfeng's ability to increase yield and reduce environmental damage to crops. Through our program, we intend to investigate further the benefit of sulfur as well as providing educational programs to farmers in the process."

"We are very pleased to be working with NATESC," stated Mr. Xinduo Yu, President and CEO of Hanfeng. "They are highly respected and trusted in China's agriculture industry and their field trials will add another valued stamp of approval to our efficient, low carbon, environmentally friendly products. We will also benefit from the immediate exposure our products will receive, as some of the provinces that will host the field trials will be serviced by our distribution network, which is expected to begin operations in 2009."
