Hanley Wood Acquires Two Commercial Construction Magazines

WASHINGTON, DC -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 30, 2007 -- Hanley Wood, LLC announced today the purchase of the assets of Spiderweb Publishing Inc, a privately owned publishing company based in Durham, NC. The company publishes ECO-STRUCTURE and METALMAG, two leading magazines in the commercial construction space, as well as the companion Web sites and, media products that are positioned to inform readers about best construction practices and high-performance buildings.

"ECO-STRUCTURE and METALMAG will expand Hanley Wood's portfolio into sustainable/green building -- a rapidly growing sector in commercial construction," says Peter Goldstone, President, Hanley Wood Business Media. "Hanley Wood will actively serve the information requirements related to green building in the commercial and residential sectors for years to come." The magazines will become part of Hanley Wood's Commercial Design Group, joining ARCHITECT, ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING and PRODUCT SPEC GUIDE, under the direction of Group Publisher, Patrick J. Carroll.

"The Commercial Design Group has had a very successful year with the launch of ARCHITECT and the acquisition of ARCHITECTURAL LIGHTING," said Carroll. "ECO-STRUCTURE and METALMAG are excellent publications that add significantly to Hanley Wood's reach into the commercial construction market."

ECO-STRUCTURE, published 8 times annually, was launched in 2003 and serves architects, interior designers, building owners and manufacturers/suppliers working in environmental building and surroundings. Its circulation of 27,508 is BPA audited.

Launched in 2000 and published 8 times each year, METALMAG is distributed to a BPA-audited circulation of 30,600 metal roofing and metal building contractors, roofing contractors, general contractors, architects, engineers, manufacturers and building owners/developers, erectors and suppliers.

The staff of Spiderweb Publishing, along with owner/publisher, John Riester, will join Hanley Wood and continue to produce the magazines and related media. John Riester has enjoyed a long history in the publishing industry, including helping to launch AQUATICS INTERNATIONAL (acquired by Hanley Wood in 2001).

"I'm looking forward to the continued growth of our magazines under the umbrella of a company like Hanley Wood," says Riester. "Our magazines and Web sites are great strategic fits with the Commercial Design group and immediately benefit from being a part of Hanley Wood's growing portfolio of non-residential media products."
