Hardin Construction Projects Deliver Nearly 2,000 Residence Hall Beds to Bustling Georgia College Campuses

Amenities Include Courtyards, an Amphitheater, Grilling Areas, Porches, and More

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Sep 13, 2012) - Hardin Construction Company recently completed projects that delivered nearly 2,000 beds, plus an array of modern-living amenities to college campuses across Georgia.

At institutions public and private -- from coastal Savannah State University to the mountainous, north Georgia campus of Young Harris College -- Hardin's delivery of new and newly renovated student residence halls is helping colleges and universities accommodate enrollment growth and enhance campus living.

"Collaboration with a variety of colleges, each with unique needs but all committed to meeting modern-consumer expectations, has been quite a rewarding experience for Hardin Construction," said Hardin Director of Higher Education Carlos Torres. "It's also sharpened our insight into this dynamic market sector."

Hardin Construction's portfolio features more than 7.5 million square feet of higher education facilities, from office and classroom buildings to sports, dining, multi-purpose and residential facilities -- including a number of LEED-certified projects.

In Georgia, Hardin has served as design-build contractor and as construction manager on projects ranging from recreation and student activities centers to individual residence halls and apartment-style suite communities. Hardin works closely with client schools to minimize disruptions to campus life and operations throughout the construction process.

Georgia projects recently delivered include:

Center Pointe Suites at University of West Georgia. The design-build project connects new four-story and five-story buildings along a major pedestrian campus route, providing 600 beds and modern housing that help the university become a "destination university," say university officials. Center Pointe offers primarily two-bed units with semi-private baths. Amenities include laundry facilities, lounge spaces, multiple study areas, a large meeting area convertible to two smaller spaces, and a catering kitchen. Hardscape and pedestrian areas surround the buildings.

University Place II at Kennesaw State University. Three four-story and five-story wood-framed apartment buildings accommodate 451 upperclassmen in a community that also includes a large amphitheater, outdoor recreational areas, and abundant green space -- giving students "a premier residential experience," say university officials. Buildings feature open breezeway corridors and elevator access. Apartments are fully furnished and have Wi-Fi hotspots in every residence.

Freshman Housing Initiative at Savannah State University. Completion of 325-bed Tiger Court makes four residence halls and 682 beds that Hardin has contributed to the university's $24 million housing initiative to meet surging enrollment. New buildings Tiger Pointe and Tiger Place join renovated Camilla Hubert Hall, built circa 1930s. Each facility offers one-and two-bedroom units and amenities including keyless building entry, high speed and wireless Internet, study and lounge areas, laundry facilities, landscaped courtyard and pedestrian areas.

The Village at Young Harris College. Complementing the college's recent transition to a four-year college is The Village, an apartment-style community for upperclassmen. Including 100 beds brought on-line by Phase 2 of the project, The Village provides a total of 248 beds housed in cottages with four-bedroom suites. Each suite has a kitchen with full appliances, laundry facilities, cellular enhancement and wireless Internet. The complex includes common green spaces, recreational courts and outdoor grilling areas, as well as expansive porches. The project is pursuing LEED certification.
