Hargrove, Georgetti join energy professionals in march, picket line

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, Energy Editor, News Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 13, 2005) - Labour leaders Ken Georgetti and Buzz Hargrove will join striking Hydro One employees at Hydro One headquarters at Trinity Square.

"This is a struggle of workers across the continent. It's about equality, and it's about fairness. The Canadian Auto Workers are committed to putting an stop to this kind of corporate behaviour," said Hargrove, CAW President.

Georgetti, President of the Canadian Labour Congress, is equally adamant. "This fight is about respect, and equal pay for equal work. Dalton McGuinty is Hydro One's sole shareholder-he should recognize the labour movement will not back down."

WHEN: 11:45 to 12:30 p.m., July 13, 2005

WHO: Andrew Müller, President of the Society of Energy Professionals, and a delegation of Hydro One employees will address the CAW's Collective Bargaining & Political Action Convention. Then Mr. Georgetti, Mr. Hargrove, and Convention Delegates will march to join the Society's picket lines

WHERE: The CAW Convention is at the Sheraton Hotel, 123 Queen Street West, at York Street. The march will proceed from there to Trinity Square, on Bay Street west of the Eaton Centre.

The Society of Energy Professionals represents more than 6,000 professional employees in the electricity industry in Ontario, including engineers, scientists, supervisors, and others. The Society is an affiliate of the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
