Harper Government Investment Supports Safety in Clean Energy Fuel Systems

LANGLEY, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - July 28, 2015) - Western Economic Diversification Canada

Today, Mark Warawa, Member of Parliament for Langley, on behalf of the Honourable Michelle Rempel, Minister of State for Western Economic Diversification, announced $90,000 in funding to the CSA Group for their project to create a field test site to certify high-pressure hydrogen and compressed natural gas (CNG) components for the automotive industry.

With this funding, CSA Group will be able to purchase and install the necessary testing equipment, as well as prepare the site for actual testing. CSA Group will use this facility to engage in destructive testing, including bonfire, gunfire penetration and drop impact testing of high-pressure CNG and hydrogen fuel cell containers, as well as complete vehicle fuel systems.

The site will allow CSA Group to offer certification services to western Canadian SMEs and post-secondary institutions, as well as high-pressure component suppliers. The testing site will enable CSA Group to certify that their clients' products meet national and international standards.
