Harper Government Invests to Support Health Beverage Manufacturer

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Dec. 17, 2014) - Member of Parliament Bernard Trottier (Etobicoke-Lakeshore), on behalf of Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz, today announced an investment of $67,000 to Zpirit Foods to help broaden the market reach of their unique line of health beverages.

Zpirit Foods is commercializing a new-to-industry health beverage containing real fruit, water, herbs and spices. This federal investment will be used by the company to acquire and install a new fully automated fruit-filling machine, help improve production processes, and expand its market reach. This project will create jobs and increase the demand for canned fruit, lemon concentrate, refined sugar, and fresh herbs.

Quick Facts

  • Founded in 2013, Zpirit Foods introduced an infused water inspired by Eastern European Kompot-a traditional recipe used to preserve whole fruits during winters that is an integral part of Eastern European culinary culture.
  • The Canadian food processing industry generates over $73 billion in shipments for the domestic marketplace.
  • This investment is made through the Enabling Commercialization and Adoption stream of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's AgriInnovation Program, a five-year, up to $698-million initiative under Growing Forward 2.

"Our top priority is the economy and by supporting innovative, start-up, companies like Zpirit Foods, we're helping pave the way to long-term prosperity and a more sustainable environment for all Canadians. When companies like Zpirit Foods succeed, our farmers succeed, which is great news for our economy."
MP Bernard Trottier (Etobicoke-Lakeshore)

"Zpirit Foods Inc. is passionate about developing and marketing innovative healthy food products that deliver great value. Launched in June 2014, Zpirit Infuzion is our first all-natural product line which uses a proprietary process to blend fresh herbs and feature whole fruit pieces in every bottle. This investment from AgriInnovation will help the company expand its distribution network from Ontario and Quebec to the rest of Canada."
