Harrah's Entertainment Receives Prestigious Honors for Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - Harrah's Entertainment, Inc., which ranks as a diversity and inclusion leader within the casino resort industry, recently received numerous accolades for its practices and for setting a standard of excellence in the field.

On September 18, Harrah's was among the recipients at the 16th National Annual Asian Entrepreneur of the Year Awards held in Santa Monica, California and hosted by Asian Enterprise, the largest Asian American small business magazine in the nation. The ceremony honored exemplary Asian Pacific American entrepreneurs, the best companies for Asian Pacific Americans and outstanding individuals from America's Fortune 500 companies.

A testament to Harrah's rank as the diversity and inclusion leader, the company received three honors, the most for any entity recognized at the event. Harrah's received the Corporate Advocate award, while Fred Keeton, chief diversity officer and vice president of external affairs for Harrah's Entertainment, received the Special Advocate award. In addition, Harrah's Entertainment was among 18 companies -- and the only gaming company -- honored as 2009's Best Companies for Asian Pacific Americans.

"The excellent team of Fred Keeton and Tony Gladney do remarkable work for diversity for Harrah's Entertainment," said Willie Borromeo, publisher of Asian Enterprise. "We at Asian Enterprise are thrilled to honor Harrah's with these awards."

In addition, Harrah's received an Award of Excellence in the 2009 International Innovation in Diversity Awards from "Profiles in Diversity Journal." The award, featured in the July/August 2009 issue, highlighted Harrah's "D&I Inclusion to Innovation Training," a training program that clarifies the cognitive diversity that exists in daily environments and helps people think innovatively to resolve issues. Harrah's training enlightens participants about the different inherent thinking styles and how individuals can better relate to their coworkers to improve business relationships and drive measurable business outcomes.

"Year after year Profiles in Diversity Journal continues to be impressed with all the great innovations companies are incorporating in their programs, and Harrah's Entertainment certainly has one of them this year," said James Rector, publisher of "Profiles in Diversity Journal." "Their D&I Inclusion to Innovation Training seems like it will not only help their employees relate to one another better, but it also seems like it will have a major impact on Harrah's bottom line. And for top executives who don't think about diversity much, that's when these innovative programs really get exciting."
