Harris County Sheriff's Office Selects Northpointe for Jail Classification and Risk/Needs Assessment

COMPAS software provides inmate classification coupled with a risk/needs assessment system to support evidence based reentry

TRAVERSE CITY, MICHIGAN--(Marketwired - Feb. 12, 2015) - Northpointe, Inc., an industry leader of risk/needs assessment solutions and services for local and state justice agencies, has announced today that the Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston, Texas has selected Northpointe's COMPAS Classification and Risk/Needs modules for intelligent offender classification and data driven decision support for inmate programming and reentry.

The COMPAS Classification module uses the nationally recognized Decision Tree Objective Jail Inmate Classification System which is validated, court-tested, and reliable. Northpointe's Decision Tree classification, taught at the National Institute of Corrections, meets all accepted principals and guidelines of objective classification methods. Northpointe's COMPAS Risk/Needs module is an integrated, web-based risk/needs assessment and case management system designed to assist criminal justice practitioners who must make decisions regarding the institutional programming, community placement, supervision, treatment and case-management of offenders.
