Hartcourt Appoints Vice President of Operation

SHANGHAI, CHINA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 17, 2005 -- The Hartcourt Companies, Inc. (OTC BB: HRCT) (Frankfurt: 900009) Hartcourt welcomes Mr. Zhou Jing Jing as a new member of its management team. As Vice President of Operation, Mr. Zhou has the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day sales and marketing activities of the Hartcourt operating subsidiaries.

Mr. Zhou brings to Hartcourt over 20 years of experiences in software development, sales and marketing, as well as general management. Prior to Hartcourt, Mr. Zhou spent 7 years with NewSky Group where he was the Vice President in charge of its software division. NewSky Group is a leading IT company serving China's banking industry. Before NewSky, Mr. Zhou spent 14 years with Nantian Information Group, another leading Chinese public listed IT company. Mr. Zhou began his career as a software programmer, rose through the ranks in the technical fields and moved on to hold various positions with increased responsibilities in the sales, marketing and customer service areas. Mr. Zhou received his Bachelor of Computer Science degree from China's Northwest University.
