Harte-Hanks Adds Social Media, Mobile Security Initiatives to Ci Pipeline Lead Generation Service

Seven New Initiatives Reveal Purchase Intentions Related to Mobility, Connectivity Trends

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 11, 2011) - Harte-Hanks, Inc. (NYSE: HHS), a worldwide direct and targeted marketing company, has expanded its Ci Pipeline® lead generation service to include tracking of seven new information technology and telecommunications purchasing initiatives being planned at business, government and education locations throughout the United States and Canada. The purchase initiatives now being tracked include mobile device security, social media management, tablet computers, thin PCs, data de-duplication software, video conferencing hardware and software, and digital signage displays.

"With the explosive increase of handheld mobile devices, tablets, and social media being used as business tools, companies are reshaping and expanding their technology purchase plans in order to increase productivity and compete in the marketplace," said Tino Kokkinos, managing director of Harte-Hanks Market Intelligence. "The addition of these new initiatives to Ci Pipeline allows our customers to stay ahead of their competitors by locating buyers in the market for these key new technologies early in the purchase cycle."

Security for mobile devices is one of the biggest opportunities revealed in the research, Kokkinos notes. Worldwide mobile communication device sales to end users totaled 427.8 million units in the first quarter of 2011, an increase of 19 percent from the first quarter of 2010*, according to Gartner, Inc.

"Organizations are struggling to come to grips with the risks inherent in their employees' use of personal mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets," Kokkinos said. "With multiple users reading emails and downloading files, they risk exposing their company to potential viruses that can wipe out their entire networks -- and that opens up opportunities for solution providers in this field."

Business use of social media channels is another growing trend in the market. Ci Pipeline now provides information about social media channels that businesses participate in, as well as identifying the resources that are tied to their social media presence. This intelligence can be used to create sales opportunities for a variety of social media solution providers, as well as for organizations specializing in advertising, marketing and public relations.

In addition to tracking social and mobile security initiatives, Ci Pipeline now tracks purchase plans for tablet computers, thin PCs, data de-duplication software, video conferencing hardware and software, and digital signage displays, Ci Pipeline now tracks purchase intentions for 67 technologies. Since January 2011, 37,478 initiatives have been identified totaling more than $2.9 billion in purchase intentions within the next 24 months.
