Harte-Hanks Trillium Software Makes the Business Case for Data Governance at Annual Conference

Data Governance Consultant Nigel Turner and Trillium Software Executive Sarah Kohler Selected to Discuss Business Value at Data Governance Conference in San Diego

BILLERICA, MA--(Marketwire - Jun 22, 2011) - Trillium Software®, a business of Harte-Hanks, Inc. (NYSE: HHS) and a leading enabler of Total Data Quality solutions, today announced that Sarah Kohler, director, product management at Trillium Software, and Nigel Turner, an independent data quality consultant and former head of British Telecommunications' Enterprise Information Programme, will showcase how data quality and data governance impacts business process results and performance at the 2011 Data Governance Annual Conference at the Catamaran Resort Hotel in San Diego, California.

Mr. Turner will make "The Business Case for Data Governance - What Every Executive Needs to Know" on Monday, June 27 at 5:00 p.m. Pacific USA at the 'How-to' Forum. Presently an independent data quality consultant, he formerly managed an enterprise wide data quality improvement programme in BT, which was praised by industry analysts and delivered significant bottom line benefits. He also led a successful Information Management and CRM practice at BT providing data management consultancy and solutions to several of BT's major customers.

The session will outline the importance of communicating a compelling business case that CxO's can actually buy-into, relate to, and comfortably endorse. Mr. Turner states, "The more effectively you can demonstrate the business value of data governance, the stronger the executive support, funding and ability to sustain the program going forward." Through the use of BT as a case study and industry best practices, attendees will learn to plan, how to build and sell a business case and results, and secure executive buy-in through:

  • Looking for business value,
  • Defining and strongly positioning tangible and intangible opportunities,
  • Positioning enterprise vs. project-based benefits,
  • Measuring and illustrating return on investment, and,
  • Selling the business case to stakeholders and leaders.

Mrs. Kohler will present a session titled "Step Up Your Data Governance Program Using Existing Technologies" on Tuesday, June 28 at 11:30 a.m. Pacific USA in the Governance and IQ Solutions area. The discussion will focus on how data governance teams can find business success and results using existing technologies to drive increased business value. Attendees will learn:

  • How information quality disciplines can be applied strategically as part of data governance,

  • What works and does not work, based on Mrs. Kohler's field experience as evidenced in case studies and best practices sessions, and

  • How to use technology and tools to track and drive data governance value in departments and across the enterprise.

The Data Governance Conference is the largest event dedicated only to data quality and data governance. The conference this year will focus on the "how-to's" of starting a data governance and stewardship program to achieving data governance maturity.
