Hartsfield Jackson Airport Hotel Puts Best Foot Forward With Annual Shoebox Project

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2011) - Helping Atlanta attack homelessness, the Courtyard Atlanta Airport West is instrumental in providing assistance to more than 80 homeless shelters across a 13-county area through the 2011 United Way Shoebox Project.

Joining forces with Converse, Sole+ and Spaulding High School, staff members at the Hartsfield Airport hotel are a driving force in promoting this exceptional program aimed at providing shoeboxes filled with toiletries to homeless women and children through this unique program. Women and children represent the largest population of homeless residents in the Metro Atlanta area and collecting and distributing new, unopened toiletries, carefully packed in shoeboxes has been an ongoing effort beginning on Valentine's Day and culminating on May 8 -- Mother's Day, for this 2011 event.

In 2010 Marriott was one of the United Way's largest corporate collectors, providing over 1,400 shoeboxes for the annual distribution. This year, the Courtyard Atlanta Airport West with the help of shoebox providers and area high school artists, is making a dramatic effort in helping Marriott raise the standard. Last year's total United Way distribution exceeded 15,000 shoeboxes through the support of caring corporate and individual volunteers.
