Harvard School of Public Health's David A. Shore Leads World Congress on Project Management

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - Dec 9, 2011) - On December 5, 2011 the World Congress Leadership Summit on Project Management in Healthcare brought together a diverse group of health care stakeholders to discuss best practices within the project management field while addressing the specific issues project management teams face working in health care. David A. Shore, PhD, who directs the Harvard School of Public Health Project Management in Health Care Programs, led the meeting as both Conference Chair and Keynote Speaker.

Dr. Shore lead three sessions on project management, Starting Projects Right - How to Launch Successful Health Care Initiatives, Empowering Team Members to Maximize Value, and Critical Success Factors and Red Rules Consensus Building for Projects. Each session was designed to address a specific issue in the health care industry's overarching need for project management to adhere to the challenges of change initiatives in hospital systems. The need for enhanced project management capabilities in health care was highlighted in a survey conducted by the Harvard School of Public Health with Towers Watson, titled The Hospital Industry in Transition: Building Capability to Successfully Drive Change (URL: www.hsph.harvard.edu/ccpe/webbrochures/2011CCPE_TWpaper.pdf). This survey is the first large-scale effort to examine the state of project management in the U.S. hospital industry today, particularly the implications for infrastructure, capabilities, and resources.

David A. Shore's leadership of this conference relates to his work with health systems globally through the Harvard School of Public Health Project Management in Health Care Programs. These programs are designed to foster organizational change, build project management capability, attain system-wide improvement, and improve the quality of health care delivery. The knowledge gained from these Project Management Programs creates the foundation to implement new project design and delivery capability with strategic alignment to key business imperatives. About Dr. Shore

David A. Shore, PhD serves as an Associate Dean at the Harvard School of Public Health. He founded and directs the School's Forces of Change Program and Trust Initiative. Shore is also Executive Director of the Center for Continuing Professional Education at the School.
