Have A Real First Date This Valentines

CALGARY, ALBERTA and EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Jan. 22, 2015) - Matchmaker Krystal Walter knows better than most that the modern dating game can be an overwhelming place for singles. With the endless number of online dating sites, free apps, and the incessant use of social media and texting, dating isn't as exciting as it used to be.

"Dating shouldn't be a series of texts or email exchanges," says Walter. "The biggest mistake singles are making is spending too much time online. It's time to get offline and actually meet in person. That's when the chemistry happens." Dating apps are forever trending, use them to meet but quickly meet in person. Here are tips to get the online action happening for quick and easy steps to a fast first date.

Walter offers the following advice for online dating with Valentines fast approaching:

1. Ask your friends for help: Get a friend to help you write your profile. Sometimes they know you better than you know yourself and can add a different spin to your profile making it more alluring.

2. Avoid clichés: Even if you do like "walking on the beach" leave it out - everyone says that. Think of something interesting that could be a conversation starter. Try using humor; building chemistry off humor is one of the quickest ways in establishing chemistry.

3. Stay positive: Avoid anything negative and always be positive about yourself. Your profile is essentially your dating resume. You wouldn't want a future employer to read anything negative, so why would you want a potential partner to read anything that isn't positive?

4. Be honest: Lying doesn't get you anywhere in the dating world. Honesty is the best policy!

5. Be specific: Talk in specifics to give a full allure of who you are. If you love travelling, say where your favorite place is and why.

6. Update regularly: Keep your profile up to date. Make the effort to renew your profile on a regular basis with relevant information about yourself and swap out pictures. If using more then one site or app, use different photos for each.

7. Grammar check: Many people find poor grammar and spelling a turn off, even the best of us can make mistakes, so be careful on this point. Put your profile into Word and use your computer to spell check.

8. Smile: People would rather see a big, happy grin in a profile photo than a sexy pout.

9. Choose recent photos: If they are more than a year old, don't use them. The biggest complaint of online profiles is out dated photos. Also don't use photos where you are not the main focus.

10. Keep it short and sweet: you wouldn't introduce yourself to someone in a bar or a pub with your entire life story, so don't do it online sum yourself up briefly.
