Havelock to Receive Funding for King Street Water and Sewer Rehabilitation

HAVELOCK, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 21, 2015) -

Residents of Havelock will benefit from the rehabilitation of King Street drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, thanks to joint funding from the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Small Communities Fund.

The rehabilitation work of King Street drinking water and wastewater infrastructure will include the replacement of existing watermains, main line valves, sanitary sewers, sanitary manholes, storm sewers, storm manholes and catch basins within the right-of-way as well as associated roadwork. These improvements will help maintain reliable and sustainable water and wastewater services, improve local traffic flow and support the quality of life of Havelock residents.

The $1-billion Small Communities Fund provides funding for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs. Canada and Ontario will each provide $272 million to support projects in communities across the province with fewer than 100,000 residents. This funding will help address local priorities, supporting job creation and economic growth, thus sustaining a high quality of life in small communities across Ontario for years to come.
