Hawk Commences Exploration on the Cortez Property, Elliott Lake Area, Northern Ontario

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Hawk Uranium Inc. (TSX VENTURE:HUI)(FRANKFURT:HPM) ("Hawk") is pleased to announce that it has commenced field exploration consisting of line cutting, field mapping, ground Magnetic and ground Radiometric Surveys over a number of airborne radiometric anomalies identified from its November 2007 airborne radiometrics, magnetic and VLF-EM survey by Geophysics GPR International Inc., of Longueuil, Quebec on its wholly owned Cortez Property in the Ramsey Lake Area - Elliott Lake Area of Northern Ontario. Completion of this exploration program is expected by the end of August 2008. Once the ground work has been completed and analyzed, the Company will formulate the next stage of exploration that could include drilling. Cortez, a uranium exploration property, consists of 29 staked claims - 453 claim units - and covers approximately 7,284 hectares in the Cortez and Gladwin Townships, Ramsey-Elliott Lake Area, Northern Ontario.

The Cortez Property holds the potential of hosting uranium in pegmatites, migmatites and brecciated contact areas between the older Precambrian metasediments, metavolcanics and granitic intrusive and the younger granitic intrusive which inundated the area. Elevated radioactivity has been found in migmatites, pegmatites and massive granite in close proximity to the diabase intrusive and also in the brecciated contact areas.

The Geology of the entire area is underlain by Early Precambrian metasediments, metavolcanics, intrusive gneiss of Granodiorite and Quartz Diorite composition, ultrabasics, hybrid gneiss, migmatites, pegmatites and later granite intrusive and diabase dykes. Locally the area exhibits all stages of assimilation and hybridization of the various rock types, with intense brecciation and injection of volatiles from the later granite intrusive.

The regional foliation of the area is to the northwest, but locally the trends vary from north to northeast. The folding is largely controlled by the granitic intrusive. The area is extensively faulted, with long and well-defined northwest regional lineaments and minor subsidiary northeast lineaments. To the north of the property a major east -west structural break has been picked out from radar-sat imagery.
