hc1 and IBM Watson Help Eskenazi Health Personalize Patient Care and Service

Eskenazi Health the First to Adopt hc1 Patient Insights App Powered by IBM Watson

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwired - May 5, 2015) -  hc1.com, the leading healthcare CRM company that personalizes the healthcare experience by translating live clinical and business data into insight, action, and targeted communications, today announced that it has joined the IBM Watson Ecosystem. Eskenazi Health, a healthcare network based in Indianapolis, is the first to collaborate with the hc1 Patient Insights app powered by Watson. Click to Tweet

Once an organization has opted to participate, the hc1 Patient Insights app uses Watson's cognitive computing technologies to analyze an individual's emails, social information, surveys, call center logs, and other relevant data and interactions. It then provides those insights to physicians and other care givers to increase patient retention, identify and address at-risk populations, and to help professionals deliver more personalized patient care and customer service.

"Our partnership with IBM Watson empowers healthcare leaders to deliver personalized service based on the personality traits and tendencies of consumers across all stages of care - healthy, acute, or chronic," said Brad Bostic, hc1.com CEO. "As a result, hc1.com clients have tremendous success reducing missed appointments while increasing new patient enrollment, retention, and satisfaction. This is a great example of the innovation hc1.com delivers due to our intense, exclusive focus on personalizing the healthcare experience."

Based in Indianapolis, Eskenazi Health is the first client to adopt the hc1 Patient Insights, which uses Watson's cognitive computing capabilities including natural language processing and Q&A capabilities, to analyze patient interactions and create real-time sentiment profiles on the hc1 platform. The profiles, which highlight a range of personality factors based on the use of Watson Personality Insights service, social sentiment and other observed personality traits, are combined with demographic, scheduling, and clinical data to evaluate an individual's relationship with the health system to get ahead of issues such as retention risk, readmission risk, and gaps in care.

"With the hc1 app, our goal is to further tailor care by gaining insight into an individual patient's preferences," said Parveen Chand, COO, Eskenazi Health. "By better understanding our patient population, we're able to serve them in a more personalized, engaging manner. That could mean additional reminders regarding appointments, follow-ups regarding medication usage, or encouraging subsequent lab visits and testing."

hc1 Patient Insights is delivered through the hc1 Partner Ecosystem, designed to reward partner commitment and performance, strengthen relationships and personalize health care for patients and providers on a global scale. Learn more at www.hc1.com/partners.

IBM Watson: Pioneering a New Era of Computing

Watson is the first commercially available cognitive computing capability representing a new era in computing. The system, delivered through the cloud, analyzes high volumes of data, understands complex questions posed in natural language, and proposes evidence-based answers. Watson continuously learns, gaining in value and knowledge over time, from previous interactions. With the help of Watson, developers and partners are building apps and services that harness the power of cognitive computing to transform industries, help professionals do their jobs better, and solve important challenges.

IBM continues to build on its strengths in cognitive computing, analytics, security and cloud with IBM Watson Health and the Watson Health Cloud platform. This unit is helping improve the ability of doctors, researchers, health plans and individuals to innovate by surfacing new insights from the massive amounts of personal health data being created daily. The Watson Health Cloud allows this information to be anonymized, shared and combined with a dynamic and constantly growing aggregated view of clinical, research and social health data.
