HCI Announces Inaugural Performance Management Innovation Conference

First-Of-Its-Kind Event to Share New Strategies to Optimize Performance Management and Drive Positive Outcomes

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 9, 2015) - Human Capital Institute (HCI), the global association for strategic talent management, today announced details of the 2016 Performance Management Innovation Conference, its inaugural event designed to showcase new ideas to replace the outdated, traditional performance management process. The event will take place Monday, June 27 through Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Conrad Hilton in New York City.

"In a dynamic work environment characterized by new challenges, shifting priorities and changing goals, the ability to keep talent aligned with evolving needs is key to success. Yet, the annual performance review cycle often prevents the company and its individual employees from adapting accordingly," said Carl Rhodes, HCI's chief executive officer. "In order to remain competitive, drive performance and increase employee retention, a new approach to performance management is required. Our first-ever Performance Management Innovation Conference will introduce a cutting-edge model for this crucial activity and provide attendees with the insights to revamp their performance management processes and ensure they develop their teams to meet current and future needs."

For the more than 70 percent of global employees who work in service- or knowledge-related jobs, performance is driven by their skills, attitude and ability to innovate and contend with change. Such competencies must be built over time, and the performance management systems of the future must be able to develop these capabilities continuously rather than measuring them at a moment in time. Moreover, in today's business climate, work priorities rarely follow an annual evaluation cycle; needs change and employees often switch between multiple projects under various team leaders.

In such an environment, the traditional performance management system based on annual reviews can be detrimental to the company's ability to perform. During the 2016 Performance Management Innovation Conference, HCI will introduce a new, agile approach to performance management. This new model replaces the ineffective traditional annual review process with a simpler one focused on critical outcomes like feedback, coaching, goal setting, and manager and employee relationships.

Through an extensive agenda of informative keynotes and engaging sessions, the event will introduce HCI's model of strategic performance management and provide the actionable tips and strategies that attendees can take back to their organizations and implement immediately. The result is a continuous process for identifying and cultivating the innate strengths of employees, setting goals based on changing business conditions, providing continuous feedback and driving enhanced performance and engagement.
