HD-PLC Alliance to Showcase Power Line Communication World for More Than 30 Companies at 2008 International CES

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 20, 2007) - Today, the HD-PLC Alliance, an organization dedicated to advancing the spread of HD-PLC (High Definition Power Line Communication) and raising awareness of its benefits, announced that it will showcase and demonstrate more than 60 of the latest products incorporating HD-PLC technology at the 2008 International CES. The HD-PLC Alliance makes its CES debut in Las Vegas from January 7-10, 2008 at booth #21550 in South Hall 2.

The HD-PLC Alliance will highlight power line network products in various applications and demonstrate how the technology enables ordinary home electrical wiring to serve as a high-speed network, transforming wall outlets in every room into convenient network connections for many types of devices.

More than 30 companies will conduct demonstrations of their products, many incorporating compact PLC modules that are easily integrated in home appliances and consumer electronics products such as video and audio equipment and home automation controls. Some of the products to be exhibited include:

-- PLC, WiFi bridge and PoE bridge
-- PLC-networked AV equipment
-- USB-PLC bridge solution for extending the use of USB devices
    throughout the home
-- PLC-based POS system for retail businesses
-- LED streetlights incorporating IP security cameras and PLC
-- PLC adapters and routers for sharing broadband access in the home

As broadband Internet access and video and audio streaming have become commonplace, consumers have discovered the need for a simple and convenient way to move digital media and content around the home. HD-PLC offers the benefit of high-speed networking with "no new wires." Computer peripheral devices incorporating PLC are at the forefront of new products now being introduced and a variety of home information appliances featuring PLC are expected to enter the market in 2008. HD-PLC is now also being used in a growing number of commercial applications.
