Head of the Class: Sustainable Energy Technologies Powers Solar Rooftop PV System for Calgary School

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2009) - Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd (TSX VENTURE:STG) ("Sustainable Energy" or the "Company") today announced that its PARALEX solar rooftop power system will provide electricity to the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School in Calgary, Alberta, with support from ENMAX Energy. The PARALEX system will be a critical component in the installation, which includes 100 solar panels covering 8,000 square feet of rooftop. The entire system will deliver 10 kW of power to turn on lights, run computers, and partially offset the school's daily electricity needs.

The Strathcona-Tweedsmuir project will demonstrate the performance of two different solar power system architectures and compare the results to determine which yields the highest energy output. Fifty panels will be mounted in a traditional series string architecture. The other 50 will trial the PARALEX system, which wires the panels in parallel to optimize power output and avoid impact from real-world factors such as shading or dirt which cause series architectures to lose energy due to the lowest performing panel. The PARALEX system also incorporates an extra low voltage inverter to ensure public safety.

PARALEX is designed to deliver a greater return on investment while also providing the highest level of safety and reliability that is crucial for government and commercial buildings. The technology is ideally suited for schools and community centers due to its inherently safe, low-voltage design. The systems are easily and inexpensively installed and maintained and will enable schools realize significant value in energy efficiencies.
