Health Hero Network and American Medical Group Association Form Strategic Alliance to Improve Chronic Care Management

Two Organizations Will Work Together to Establish Standardized Care Management Process Utilizing the Health Buddy® System

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 18, 2006 -- Health Hero Network, a leading innovator of technology solutions for chronic care management, announced it has formed a strategic alliance with the American Medical Group Association (AMGA). The two organizations will work together to develop best practice protocols and operating procedures for medical groups to follow when implementing care-management programs supported by technology-based solutions, such as the Health Buddy® system. Additionally, AMGA will initiate programs designed to facilitate dialogue among AMGA members to disseminate best practice learnings about technology-based management solutions and to pave the way for future chronic care management advancements.

"This alliance will produce a better method to care for the hundreds of thousands of patients with chronic conditions that AMGA's members serve," said Steve Brown, chief executive officer of Health Hero Network. "AMGA is a recognized and trusted organization that seeks to improve medical groups and physician performance in line with the national standards of preventive and chronic health care. Their understanding of the needs of medical groups and patients, along with our Health Buddy system and suite of disease management and health maintenance programs, provides a good fit to further meet the needs of people with chronic conditions."

The Health Buddy system enables physician groups to implement high quality care management programs. Through personalized coaching and monitoring, the Health Buddy system encourages patients to actively participate in improving their health care and enables providers to efficiently manage and provide quality care to their patients while decreasing costs.

AMGA represents some of America's largest and multi-specialty medical group practices and integrated health care delivery systems and its members deliver health care to more than 50 million patients in 42 states.

"This alliance will enable us to expand our services and programs, and offer ongoing care management improvement strategies that fit our members' needs and help them better serve patients," said Julie Sanderson-Austin, vice president of quality management research at AMGA. "We are proud to join hands with the Health Hero Network and share a commitment to creating improved care management programs."

The Health Hero Network and AMGA partnership is a key initiative designed to address the challenges in chronic care management. The alliance will involve AMGA's creation of a user group, also known as a "community," comprised of AMGA members, doctors and health care providers utilizing the Health Buddy system. The community will meet annually to develop and review formalized care management process for different disease states and will serve as an information network for improved care management. Other elements of the partnership include bimonthly webinars.

"Improving chronic care is an ongoing priority for AMGA," said Sanderson-Austin. "Creating consistent chronic care management programs has been challenging for all of health care. This alliance gives us a strong partner for developing even more, clinically proven efficient and reliable care management programs and processes."
