Health Hero Network Testifies Before Senate Hearing on Saving Medicare Through Prevention

CEO Introduces Home Health Monitoring Technology to Senate Special Committee on Aging as Way to Improve Lives While Cutting Costs

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 30, 2005 -- The Chief Executive Officer of Health Hero Network Inc., Steve Brown, testified today before the Senate Special Committee on Aging. He demonstrated how Health Hero Network's home health monitoring technology, the Health Buddy® system, can reduce Medicare costs by helping seniors better manage their daily health and decrease expensive medical care.

The Health Buddy system has been used by the Veterans Health Administration for five years and is a key technology component of two of the nine Medicare Health Support Programs recently awarded under the Medicare Modernization Act of 2003. Brown gave specific examples of how these agencies are using this technology to improve the lives of people with chronic illnesses -- Medicare's highest cost beneficiaries.

"If you want to prevent hospitalizations, you need to coach people about preventive behavior and interact with them at home to identify problems early," said Brown during his testimony. "We know that coaching and monitoring patients at home works because we support the communication between thousands of patients and their care providers every day."

The Health Buddy system provides patients with daily coaching that helps them manage their chronic conditions. Patients interact daily with the Health Buddy® appliance, answering questions about their health and reporting their vital signs. Care providers receive the results on a secure Internet page, and are alerted early when a patient's condition begins to deteriorate. Health Hero Network has proven that when health care providers and patients with chronic illnesses work together and focus on daily management and prevention, there is a huge positive impact on patients' quality of life as well as significant reduction in cost of care.

Brown's complete testimony will be available shortly after the hearing: http://aging.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?Fuseaction=Hearings.Detail&HearingID=68
