Health & Human Services Mergers & Acquisitions: The Focus of August mhca National Innovation Incubator

GETTYSBURG, PA--(Marketwired - July 25, 2016) - mhca will host their quarterly conference at the Doubletree Hilton Portland in Portland, Oregon kicking off with a half-day session on August 16 focused on mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the health and human services industry and the role of M&A brokers. This session, part of mhca's National Innovation Incubator Program, will feature firsthand experience from M&A brokers currently providing services in the health and human services field.

The session will feature presentations by:

  • Dexter W. Braff, MBA, President, The Braff Group
  • Rich Tinsley, President & Chief Executive Officer, Stoneridge Partners
  • Monica E. Oss, Chief Executive Officer, OPEN MINDS

This half-day session will launch with an executive update from OPEN MINDS chief executive officer, Monica E. Oss, on the state of M&A in the market and the strategic use of M&A activities to strengthen behavioral health provider organizations. After hearing exclusive insights from M&A brokers in the field, an interactive discussion session is planned where the faculty will discuss the role of M&A brokers and what to look for when looking to merge, acquire, or be acquired.

"Keeping up with consolidation in the health and human services market is challenging for executive teams, as M&A becomes more frequent in the industry. While teams are exploring new opportunities to get the resources needed to respond to competitive pressures, M&As are now being considered as a possible tactic in strategy," said Monica Oss, Chief Executive Officer at OPEN MINDS and the chair of mhca's National Innovation Incubator. "With so many models for consolidation, executive teams need to not only understand how to put together the best M&A strategy for their organization, but also know when to use outside counsel or brokers."

Since August 2014, mhca Innovation Incubators have continued to provide leaders in the behavioral health industry with a unique opportunity to collaborate with peers and learn innovative strategies and techniques for remaining sustainable. This think-tank style approach to innovation has allowed organizations across the U.S. to recognize and understand emerging trends and develop new and improved products and services within their organizations.

Join mhca and OPEN MINDS at the next Innovation Incubator to give your organization the tools, tips, and tricks you need to not only survive, but thrive in the changing health and human services environment.
