HealthEdge Joins the Fight to End School Bullying

Company Announces Its Support of the National School Climate Center

BURLINGTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 14, 2010) - HealthEdge, provider of the only modern, enterprise-class software platform for healthcare payors, today announced that it is providing technology assistance to the National School Climate Center (NSCC), an organization that is dedicated to helping create positive learning environments for children. NSCC helps schools integrate crucial social and emotional learning with academic instruction, providing environments that foster enhanced student performance, decreased drop outs, and reduced physical violence and bullying while developing healthy and positively engaged adults.

"Creating safe and healthy learning environments for our children is a critical goal," said Jonathan Cohen, Ph.D. (co-founder and president, NSCC). "NSCC was founded in 1996 at Teachers College, Columbia University and our mission is to measure and improve the climate for learning in schools and to help children realize their fullest potential as individuals and as engaged members of society. We are thrilled to have the employees of HealthEdge involved in helping us to raise the public's awareness of this important work. Their technology assistance will allow us to continue to spread the word about our key programs and initiatives."

"The HealthEdge team strongly believes in the importance of creating positive learning environments for the leaders of tomorrow," said HealthEdge CEO Rob Gillette. "We are excited to have partnered with NSCC in the fight against school bullying, and we are looking forward to helping them achieve their goals." HealthEdge is working with NSCC to develop the first phase of a national School Climate Resource Center that will include practical guidelines and tools to support educators and parents creating safe, supportive, engaging and helpfully challenging schools. Through this collaboration with NSCC, HealthEdge hopes to help raise awareness of the critical issues that are impacting our children's lives.

About the National School Climate Center

The National School Climate Center is focused on promoting a positive and sustained school climate: a safe, supportive environment that nurtures social and emotional, ethical, and academic skills. NSCC is an organization that helps schools to integrate crucial social and emotional learning with academic instruction. In doing so, they enhance student performance, prevent drop outs, reduce physical violence, bullying, and develop healthy and positively engaged adults.

For more than a decade, NSCC has worked together with the entire academic community -- teachers, staff, school-based mental health professionals, students and parents -- to improve the climate for learning. They have helped translate research into practice by establishing meaningful and relevant guidelines, programs, and services that support a model for whole school improvement with a focus on school climate.
