HealthPartners Honors Dental Director

Craig Amundson, D.D.S. Receives Legacy Award

BLOOMINGTON, MN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- April 19, 2007 -- Craig Amundson, D.D.S., HealthPartners dental director and chief operating office for dental operations, received HealthPartners Legacy Award for a lifetime of achievement. HealthPartners granted the award as part of its 50th anniversary celebration at its annual meeting in St. Paul on April 18, 2007. The award recognizes an individual who has left a lasting legacy on the organization which was the first pre-paid health plan in Minnesota.

"For thirty years, Craig's vision has been to find new ways to care for our patients to help prevent disease before it becomes more painful and more costly," said Mary Brainerd, HealthPartners president and CEO. "Craig helped HealthPartners become one of the first dental groups in the country to research and provide dental sealants. He has also been a champion of serving our most vulnerable patients who don't often get the dental care they need." Under Dr. Amundson's leadership, HealthPartners Dental Group opened the Midway clinic in 2005 which was uniquely designed to serve the needs of new Americans and patients from ethnic and low-income communities.

Amundson, who continues in his clinical practice and leadership roles, joined HealthPartners in 1977. He won a Star Award for his work with the National Association of Dental Plans in 2005 and is a clinical professor on the adjunct faculty in the department of health ecology at the University of Minnesota School Of Dentistry.
