Healthscreen Signs Partnership With Mail-Order Pharmacy and Provides Update on Diabetes Management Initiative

Home Service Pharmacy to deliver drugs to participating diabetic patients

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 12, 2009) - Healthscreen Solutions Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MDU), the leading Canadian provider of physician practice enhancement services and electronic medical record software, has partnered with Home Service Pharmacy, a mail-order pharmacy based in Burlington, Ontario. Under the terms of the non-exclusive partnership, Home Service will deliver prescription drugs on behalf of Healthscreen to patients electing for a home delivery option during the diabetes management pilot study.

Earlier in 2009, Healthscreen announced a three-month pilot of its diabetes management service aimed at helping physicians deliver a higher level of patient care. The service allows individuals with diabetes to record and monitor key health statistics on a real-time basis, leading to more precise tracking and trending of the impact of their daily behaviors such as diet and exercise, as well as adherence to prescription drugs. In addition, nurses trained in diabetic care provide counseling to patients and help them schedule and manage their various appointments with labs and specialists.

The initial revenue opportunity in the diabetes management service for Healthscreen is the recruitment of patients for prescription drug delivery, which makes partnerships such as the one signed with Home Service, essential to the financial success of the service if it is commercialized. To date, Healthscreen has completed installation of diabetic management systems in fifty patient homes, and expects to complete the remaining fifty installations by mid-April 2009, and has successfully coordinated the first drug delivery through the mail. Initial feedback from patients has been very positive and encouraging.

"Partnering with an established mail-order pharmacy, with the infrastructure, capacity and knowledge required to deliver prescription drugs is integral to the success of our diabetes management program," said Justin Belobaba, president and CEO of Healthscreen. "Giving patients the option to have prescription drugs delivered to their doorstep adds another valuable element to the diabetes management program, and we hope to form similar partnerships going forward, as we continue to enhance this service."
