Healthwise Certified as Great Workplace

BOISE, ID--(Marketwired - July 27, 2016) - Healthwise, a health education, technology, and services nonprofit known for having an excellent workplace culture, has again been recognized, this time by independent analysts at Great Place to Work®, who have certified Healthwise as a great workplace. Healthwise earned this recognition based on exemplary ratings provided by its employees in an anonymous survey.

"Healthwise long ago recognized that a happy and healthy workplace has benefits to employees and the clients and consumers we serve with our nonprofit mission," said CEO Bob Kyte. "We spend the majority of our day in the workplace. Let's make it a place we want to come every day."

The mission of the 41-year-old company is to help people make better health decisions. Its culture is built on three principles:

  • Respect. Respect is a gift-not something that must be earned first.
  • Teamwork. Employees are expected to work together to reach their goals and to also work with clients and partners to help them achieve success.
  • Do the Right Thing. Each and every employee is trusted to do what they believe is "the right thing" for the client, partner, supplier or coworker.

Healthwise offers employees flexible work schedules, sponsors an annual Wellness Day for employees, allows employees to bring dogs to work, supports an employee mentor program, encourages walking meetings to foster exercise and innovation, and provides a fitness room, quiet rooms for new moms who are breastfeeding or for anyone who needs a break, and company bicycles.

"There is little question that workplace culture has more to do with an organization's success than anything else," said Donald W. Kemper, Healthwise founder and recently retired CEO who helped create a workplace that focused on employee wellness. "The mission and culture are visible in the faces of our employees, and our words demonstrate the passion we have for the work we do every day."

"We applaud Healthwise for seeking certification and releasing its employees' feedback," said Kim Peters, Vice President of Great Place to Work's Recognition Program. "These ratings measure its capacity to earn its own employees' trust and create a great workplace -- critical metrics that anyone considering working for or doing business with Healthwise should take into account as an indicator of high performance."

Healthwise employees completed 176 surveys, resulting in a 90 percent confidence level and a margin of error of ± 3.57.
