Hearst Corporation Names Jonathan Donnellan & Mark Redman Deputy General Counsels


NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 3, 2011) - Hearst Corporation announced today the promotions of Jonathan Donnellan to deputy general counsel-litigation and Mark Redman to deputy general counsel-corporate. Both lawyers were previously senior counsels for Hearst Corporation. The announcement was made by Eve Burton, vice president and general counsel, Hearst Corporation.

Commenting on the promotions, Burton said, "Jon and Mark are both superb lawyers who have been on the cutting edge of the law, and leaders in our group, for most of the last decade."

Donnellan has been senior counsel at Hearst since 2003. He is responsible for all litigation and content-related legal matters company wide. Donnellan and the Office of General Counsel lawyers handle virtually all of the company's litigation in house and he serves as lead counsel for Hearst and its properties in trial and appeals courts nationwide. Previously, he was vice president and deputy general counsel at the New York Daily News. Prior to that, he was assistant general counsel at CNN. He started his legal career at Cahill Gordon & Reindel, LLP in 1991. Donnellan has a bachelor's in English from New York University and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.

Redman joined Hearst as counsel in 2003. He is responsible for corporate legal matters company wide. Redman and the Office of General Counsel lawyers have been actively involved in all of Hearst's acquisition activity. Previously, he was director of legal affairs for SmartMoney magazine from 2001 to 2003 and before that, vice president and general counsel for FreeRide.com, LLC. Redman started his career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, in 1995. He has a bachelor's in history from Hobart College and a J.D. from Columbia University School of Law.
