Hearst Newspapers to Handle Printing and Packaging of Cox Media Group's Austin American-Statesman at Hearst Facilities in Houston and San Antonio

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Apr 30, 2015) -  Hearst Newspapers announced today that it has entered into an agreement with Cox Media Group's Austin American-Statesman to handle Statesman Media's printing and packaging operations at Hearst's state-of-the-art production facilities in San Antonio and Houston. Statesman Media is part of Cox Media Group.

Hearst Newspapers recently consolidated its packaging operations and upgraded its printing presses, enabling additional capacity to service other publishers in the region. These facilities currently print Hearst-owned newspapers, including the Houston Chronicle, San Antonio Express-News, Laredo Morning Times and the Beaumont Enterprise.

"Cox Media Group is a great partner of ours in several other important business ventures and we are very pleased to be able to work more closely together to optimize production services for the Austin American-Statesman," said Mark Aldam, president of Hearst Newspapers.

"Given Hearst's investment in a consolidated packaging facility in Houston, we are in a unique position to provide Cox with the kind of high-quality printing and packaging services they require," said John McKeon, president and publisher of the San Antonio Express-News. "We look forward to a long and productive relationship."

As one of Texas' largest news organizations, the Houston Chronicle is committed to covering state, national and international news. In addition to the Houston Chronicle's 825,000 daily readers and 1.4 million readers on Sunday, Chron.com is widely regarded as one of the top newspaper websites and averages nearly 95 million page views and 15 million unique visitors each month.

For 150 years, the San Antonio Express-News has been the voice of South Texas and leading chronicler of the San Antonio community, providing news and information to a community of more than one million. San Antonio is the largest major U.S. city with a Hispanic percentage majority and publishes a Spanish-language edition of the Express-News each week.
