Heateflex(R) Ships First Demeter(TM) Media Preparation System to Marshfield Food Safety Labs

ARCADIA, CA--(Marketwired - April 25, 2016) - Heateflex Corporation, a global leader in high-purity industrial heating systems, today announced that it has shipped the company's first Demeter system for automating media preparation in food testing labs to Marshfield Food Safety. The initial Demeter will be installed in Marshfield's facility in Schuyler, Nebraska.

Introduced last November in conjunction with the food testing industry's Food Safety Consortium conference, Demeter is designed to streamline the media preparation process used in food testing labs. The system automates the traditionally-manual, labor intensive dehydrated media reagent preparation steps in a lab, increasing testing throughput and accuracy. Additionally, the system records the precise volumetric amounts and temperatures of each test (NIST-traceable), then feeds that information into a laboratory information management system (LIMS), streamlining the recordkeeping required to maintain lab regulatory compliance. Demeter is ideally suited for the media preparation and testing for a variety of common food pathogens, including E. Coli, listeria, and salmonella. The first-generation, pre-production Demeter system was successfully integrated into a number of microbiological food testing labs across the nation, and in pilot installations, was shown to deliver up to a tenfold increase in sample processing throughput.
