HelloSoft Announces WiMAX/WiFi Handset Based on Its HS100 IP Convergence Processor

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS and SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - June 5, 2009) - At WiMAX Global Congress in Amersterdam, HelloSoft Inc., announced a dual-mode WiMAX/WiFi phone reference design based on its revolutionary ultra low-power HS100 IP Convergence Processor. The reference design gives OEMs/ODMs quick time to market with a cost-effective solution and excellent battery life for the rapidly growing WiMAX market. The HS100 IP Convergence Processor combines an ultra low-power ARM processor with HelloSoft's patented SmartWLAN™ and SmartVoIP™ technology to enable the Industry's best talk time, most advanced feature set and best voice quality utilizing HelloSoft's award-winning highly-optimized VOIP and IP Convergence Software Suite.

The reference design includes the complete Linux BSP and optional support for several operating systems including Android and a comprehensive set of drivers supporting a wide range of peripherals such as USB, SDIO, I2S, I2C, LCD, Keypad, etc. The phone currently runs a demonstration GUI application and provides user-friendly interfaces for phone-book, contact-list, call-history, 3-way calling, etc and supports advanced features such as wideband and ultra-wideband speech, full hardware security for IPSec/VPN and/or SRTP and optional support for music and video playback. The highly-integrated platform with 360MHz ARM provides ample MIPS for many value added applications.
