SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 3, 2014) - In less than 15 days, cannabis clubs will begin to shut down in San Jose. Money will be shifted back to street dealers as patients will have no other place to go. Activists are working hard to gather signatures this weekend on a referendum to stop the closures, but they need your help.

Beginning July 18th, there will be no Bhang Chocolates, Big Pete's Treats, CannaCaps, Cheeba Chews, Day Dreamers, Kind Caps, Kiva, Korova or any other branded products in San Jose. On June 17th the San Jose City Council passed an effective ban on medical marijuana collectives. The regulations require all concentrates, edibles and topicals be produced on-site, by the collective. Medical marijuana vendors statewide will not be allowed to provide any products to collectives in San Jose. Outdoor growing is banned and medical marijuana patients ages 18 to 20 are banned from both working at or getting medication from collectives.
"Branded products provide consistency to patients who rely on this medication," said Marilyn Gomez, a patient who relies on medical marijuana. "Without consistent products, it's nearly impossible to find the right dosage of medicine to treat my rheumatoid arthritis."
If the referendum does not succeed, many seriously ill medical cannabis patients who are unable to travel great distances will have no access to their medicine. Clubs are working to try to stop the shutdown, but need all the help they can get.
"We have turned A2C2 into campaign headquarters for the referendum," said Dave Hodges, founder of the All American Cannabis Club (A2C2). "If we can get the signatures needed for the referendum, there will be no need for any legal actions and the whole city can move forward in a productive way."
