Hengtong Announces World's Longest Optical Fiber Preform

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 18, 2016) - Hengtong announced its six-meter-long optical fiber preform at the 41st OFC exposition which just closed last March in Los Angeles, California.

This preform, the world's longest to date, is newly developed by Hengtong Optic-Electric, China's cable giant, which is a rising star in the world's optical fiber communication. The length of optical fiber drawn by the six-meter-long preform can reach 15,000 km, according to Hengtong scientists.

Taking "Connecting Smarter Future" as the theme, Hengtong charted at the exposition a bright future of smart life brought by the innovation of science and technology.

At the OFC 2016, Hengtong also exhibited intelligent ODN solutions and products including MiniCom® SMF Low-loss 200µm diameter bending-loss insensitive single-mode optical fiber, SeaCom® G.654 Low-loss and ultra large-effective area fiber for sea, including 110µm2 and 130µm2, NGFCom® G.652.D Next Generation Communication Fiber and submarine optical cable.

The OFC, managed by OSA, IEEE/ComSoc and IEEE/LEOS, is recognized as the most professional international event with highest global attention and greatest influence in the field of optical communication.
