Herbert Carnegie Future Aces Week in TDSB is in for a big finale! To end this tribute week honouring Herbert Carnegie, the Carnegie Family in partnership with the Herbert H. Carnegie Future Aces Foundation invite you to celebrate the Herbert Carnegie Legacy Event at the Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 19th, 2014.

This also comes on the heels of Mr. Carnegie being inducted into his 12th hall of fame at the Ontario Sports Hall of Fame Induction ceremony Thursday evening.

Thirteen years ago on May 2, 2001, the City of Toronto honoured this icon with the renaming of the North York Centennial Centre to the Herbert H. Carnegie Centennial Centre. At that time several exhibits sharing his achievements were put on display, but sadly through disrepair were removed through the years. Friday morning the Carnegie Family will proudly greet the public to welcome them to the transformation of the arena lobby. The walls of the arena will unfold like a film reel, for all to view the incredible achievements of this community icon.

All are welcome to be inspired by the many displays of his achievements; meet his children and grandchildren and hit the ice for a skate as Herb Carnegie did many times during his illustrious hockey career. He should have been the Jackie Robinson of Hockey but it was not to be. Instead Herbert Carnegie became a community leader, mentor to youth, philanthropist, inventor and the creator of the Future Aces Philosophy his most important legacy. This character values guideline changed and enhanced the lives of millions of young people.

Grade 11 student and artist, Summer Mackie's work will wow you as you walk through the arena's entry doors. Her wall graffiti shows a perfect likeness of Herb himself. Mark Stoddart, a local renowned Graphic Designer and Artist, will unveil his portrait of Herbert Carnegie, set on a unique back drop, depicting Mr. Carnegie's athletic achievements through media. Herbert Carnegie is the latest athlete to be included in Mark's Freedom Fighter Collection along with Jackie Robinson, Muhammad Ali and Harry Jerome.
