Heritage Travel Launches Gozaic.com

New Online Community Helps People Find, Share and Book Heritage and Cultural Travel Experiences

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - September 17, 2009) - Heritage Travel, Inc., a subsidiary of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, announces the launch of www.Gozaic.com. Gozaic is a new community for people who have a passion for heritage- and culture-rich experiences. The free Gozaic membership enables people to find heritage- and culture-rich destinations, events and guided tours; build custom travel itineraries; network with like-minded travelers; share destination reviews and photos; and participate in interest-based discussions.

"Gozaic is the ideal synthesis of online travel, interest-driven search and social networking," says Heritage Travel President and CEO John Williams. "We are excited to see the enthusiastic response to Gozaic and honored to have such an extensive and impressive list of charter destination partners."

Gozaic's debut supports new consumer research confirming the market for heritage and cultural tourism. Seventy-eight percent of U.S. leisure travelers (118 million adults) participate in cultural and/or heritage activities when traveling. Furthermore, 24 percent of U.S. leisure travelers (36 million) will take a cultural/heritage trip within the next 12 months. This research was sponsored by Heritage Travel, Inc., commissioned by the U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Marketing Council in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Commerce and conducted by Mandela Research.

The core sections of the Gozaic Web site make it easy for consumers to find what they need.

The Explore section is the place to learn about the sites, destinations, events, tours and cruises that are available at Gozaic. Visitors can search by interest (e.g., "Art Deco architecture" or "Civil War history") or location and find in-depth information -- including reviews written by other Gozaic members -- about places that match their passions. Visitors can learn about each heritage partner site and destination and find nearby lodging, restaurants, shopping, museums and more.

In the Go section, Gozaic members can create their own, custom travel itineraries and browse those created by other members. Building heritage- and culture-rich itineraries on Gozaic is quick and easy, as members can select destinations from almost anywhere on Gozaic.com with a simple mouse click. They can then share their itineraries with friends both on and off Gozaic.com. Soon, members will be able to book lodging at locations throughout the U.S. and around the world.

The Connect section provides the community elements of Gozaic. Members can connect with others who share their interests, engage in discussions, submit reviews and photos, contribute "trip journals" and find inspiration in those of others, view members' public profiles, and join in discussions in interest-based "Gozaic Circles." Hosted and moderated by experts in niche topics (from Civil War aficionados to art deco enthusiasts), Gozaic Circles provide members with a place to learn, discuss and share travel experiences related to the topics about which they are most passionate.

The personalized "My Gozaic" section gives members a place to build their own interest-based profiles, keep tabs on their Gozaic itineraries, reviews and trip journals and send messages to other members. My Gozaic is personalized for each member.

"Gozaic provides travelers with new ways to explore, discover and connect with our nation's cultural legacy," said Richard Moe, president of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. "Gozaic's focus on heritage travel will broaden the audience of those who value and support cultural and historic sites."

Media can find press releases from Gozaic in the Press Room, along with bios of key executives and background on Gozaic and Heritage Travel, Inc.
