Hermes Announces Mark Anson, CIO CalPERS, to Succeed Tony Watson

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 27, 2005) - Hermes Pensions Management Limited (Hermes) announces that Mark J P Anson, the Chief Investment Officer of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPers), will succeed Tony Watson as Chief Executive of Hermes, when Mr Watson retires at the end of January 2006.

Mark Anson

Mark Anson is the Chief Investment Officer for CalPERS, which he joined in 1999.

He is a qualified Attorney, Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst, and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, as well as author of numerous works on investment management.

He has served on Advisory and Executive Committees for the New York Stock Exchange as well as a number of international, corporate governance bodies.

Previous appointments included Oppenheimer Funds inc (1996 - 1999), Salomon Brothers (1994 - 1996) and Chapman and Cutler Schiff, Hardin and Waite (1989 - 1994).

He is an alumnus of Columbia University, New York and the Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago

Mark is married with two children and he and his family will be relocating to the UK.
