HFPA Grants More Than $1,200,000 to 28 Film Schools and Non-Profit Organizations During Annual Installation Luncheon

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - August 9, 2007) - The Hollywood Foreign Press Association presented $1,200,000 in financial grants to film schools and non-profit organizations at its annual Installation Luncheon honoring the organization's 2007-2008 slate of officers today at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The amount is the largest tally ever distributed at the annual luncheon in the organization's 65-year-history.

Celebrities attending the event to announce grants included Marc Anthony, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Lopez, and Hilary Swank. Acceptance remarks on behalf of the grants were made by Josh Brolin (FilmAid International), Billy Bush (Lollipop Theatre Network), Kate del Castillo (Inner-City Arts), Sam Elliott (Los Angeles Conservancy), Peter Falk (Columbia University School of the Arts), Christine Lahti (Sundance Institute), Masi Oka (American Cinematheque), Tony Plana (National Association of Latino Independent Producers), Charlize Theron (The Film Foundation, Inc.) and Forest Whitaker (Film Independent, Inc.).

President Jorge Camara introduced the new officers Mike Goodridge, vice president; Serge Rakhlin, executive secretary; and Meher Tatna, treasurer. The new Board of Directors is comprised of Mahfouz Doss (Chairman), Armando Gallo, Anke Hofmann, Erkki Kanto, Paz Mata, and Frances Schoenberger (alternate).
