High Design and Classic Modernism Come Together at JONES CHICAGO -- River North's New Brand of Luxury Living

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Aug 4, 2014) - Through a joint venture led by Gerding Edlen -- a West Coast-based leader in real estate investment and development -- and Chicago based developer Fred Latsko of Structured Management Midwest, revealed today details of a new, residential high-rise that will serve Chicago's River North community. JONES CHICAGO, a 25-story, 188-unit luxury apartment building is scheduled to open later this fall, with preleasing beginning in early August.

Combining sleek and modern design with a diverse mix of unit types and amenity spaces, JONES CHICAGO looks to connect a diverse community of residents to the design-forward, entrepreneurial values of the River North neighborhood.

"We immediately recognized Chicago as a strong market because of its diversified economy, pro-business attitude and highly skilled workforce," said Kelly Saito, president of Gerding Edlen. "With Chicago's commitment to creating long-term sustainable tech jobs in addition to the heavy emphasis on food, entertainment, art and culture, we knew that River North was the perfect spot for JONES CHICAGO."

JONES CHICAGO will feature a strong emphasis on classic, urban modernism combined with the raw textural design found in the River North neighborhood. Clean lines, neutral tones, and high design meet 9.8-foot exposed concrete ceilings that deliver a sophisticated new approach to today's contemporary loft. Kitchens are subtle with high-gloss cabinetry, cabinet-faced appliances and counter tops that wrap into full height backsplashes. Dark hardwood floors cover the kitchens, living spaces and bedrooms. Bathrooms are fully tiled with glass shower enclosures for a clean, refined look.

In addition to strong design, each unit is programmed to appeal to the many technically-connected entrepreneurs moving to the River North neighborhood. All units include the smart, app-based NEST Learning Thermostat™. USB plugs are included with standard electric plugins, and many of the units include a den space for added square footage devoted to those working from or starting businesses from home.

Reflecting an urban, community-centered living experience, JONES CHICAGO will include: a ground floor conference room; a sixth floor outdoor terrace and sun deck with a pool, cabanas, fire pit and barbeques; a high-end fitness center, a covered dog run and dog washing station; and a rooftop lounge with spectacular city views, a chef's kitchen, pool table and bar seating.

JONES CHICAGO offers a mix of loft studios, one bedroom, one bedroom + den, and two bedroom unit types ranging from 586 to 1054 square feet. In conjunction with Gerding Edlen's principles of sustainability, JONES CHICAGO anticipates a LEED Gold certification. The building will also include approximately 1,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor.

Gerding Edlen and Structured Management Midwest are working with Chicago-based Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture and internationally recognized general contractor Lend Lease to develop the project into a unique experience that appeals to Chicago's sophisticated downtown residents. Hartshorne Plunkard Architecture is an award winning, full service architecture, interior and planning design firm specializing in new construction, historic preservation, green/sustainable, mixed-use and renovation projects. Lend Lease is a world leader in fully integrated property and infrastructure solutions with special expertise in project management and construction.

"Our goal has been to exceed all expectations with every aspect of this building, from materials and design to richness of amenities," Saito said. "We are confident that, once completed, Jones Chicago will quickly emerge as a new design standard and residential anchor for an evolving River North community."

JONES CHICAGO is the first project for the venture and the first of two Gerding Edlen developments planned for the Chicago market which plans to develop a 240-unit, residential property at 625 W. Division.
