High-End Kitchens Are Not Always About the Food

DIAMOND BAR, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 11, 2005 -- DACOR®, a leader in high-end kitchen appliance design, manufacture and distribution, announces the availability of its new Kitchen Entertainment Center, a multimedia platform for luxury kitchens that combines a television, DVD/CD player, FM radio, Web browser and video monitor -- all in a low-profile under-counter design.

Utilizing touch screen technology as well as a keyboard or remote control, cooking enthusiasts now have the ability to browse the Internet for recipes; follow live TV cooking programs; listen to FM radio; play DVDs; or use a camera to monitor the baby's room while they are in the kitchen! The new Kitchen Entertainment Center combines the most popular in-home entertainment electronics in one user-friendly space-saving design that installs seamlessly beneath kitchen cabinetry.

"Today's affluent homeowners seek inviting and personalized kitchen spaces that incorporate comforts from other areas of the home," said Larry Lamkins, assistant vice president of marketing for DACOR. "Home chefs will be enthused when they discover they can now follow televised cooking programs right in their own kitchens, and busy parents can also benefit from the Kitchen Entertainment Center's video monitoring and Internet capabilities."

Slightly larger than a standard DVD player, the new Kitchen Entertainment Center features a built-in subwoofer and two detachable speakers for high-quality sound, as well as a 12" LCD touch screen flat-panel display for a clear picture. The flat-panel display pivots so the screen can be positioned for viewing where guests are seated. The pivoting joint also enables the flip screen to be stowed neatly in its port for protection when not in use. Designed for a busy life in the kitchen, the patented kitchen-proof keyboard and remote can be washed with a mild detergent and water and then rinsed under the kitchen faucet. The unit is also equipped with a stylus for use on the touch screen minimizing fingerprints on the display.

Founded in 1965, DACOR has introduced many industry firsts including an infrared ceramic gas broiler inside an electric Pure Convection™ self-cleaning oven and an outdoor grill with built-in halogen lights. Based in Diamond Bar, Calif., DACOR maintains showrooms at corporate headquarters as well as Atlanta, Chicago, and San Francisco.
