High Plains Gas Provides Company Overview and Business Direction

GILLETTE, WY--(Marketwire - October 25, 2010) -  High Plains Gas, Inc. (OTCBB: NXPND) is pleased to provide a company overview and new business direction.

About the Company
Prior to the closing of its reorganization agreement with Northern Explorations, Ltd, High Plains Gas ("HPG") was incorporated in 2002 and is an energy company actively engaged in the acquisition, development and production of natural gas primarily in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming. HPG currently maintains seven active leases in the basin. Each lease contains several wells ranging in development from newly drilled to producing wells. HPG has maintained an impressive success rating across all current wells by managing geological surveys, knowledge of coal-washouts and sour methane treating techniques.

HPG employs its own pipeline and roustabout crews allowing for saving on maintenance and infrastructure costs. HPG also owns and operates its own equipment, further reducing the need for subcontractors. Additionally, HPG uses advanced Petroware oil and gas accounting software from Avatar Systems which eliminates the need to outsource accounting and royalty reporting services.

The Company and its management team have experience in the oil and gas business and a long history in the Powder River Basin. HPG management and employees all live in the region. Strong relationships have been forged in the community with land owners, coal mining companies and other natural gas businesses which give HPG a distinct competitive advantage. High Plains Gas also believes it has unique experience and expertise in the refurbishment and reactivation of wells that produce gas from coal bed methane ("CBM") formations.

Mark Hettinger, Chairman of the Board of High Plains Gas said, "We are pleased at the opportunities and the strategic position that our management team has been able to develop. We believe that the natural resources and the production capabilities of the Powder River Basin allow for the development of a significant natural gas resource. The infrastructure and well development of this area is ripe for refurbishment and stimulation. We are currently focused on acquisitions due to the number of underutilized and undervalued assets available, but are equally capable of well development when pricing might dictate."
