High-Quality Tillable Farmland in Indiana and Ohio to Sell at Auction

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - October 12, 2010) -  More than 1,445 acres of high-quality farmland in Indiana and Ohio will sell at auction Nov. 5 and 6. Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company will market the farms and conduct the auctions.

"Few investments have provided a more attractive and predictable return in recent years than high-quality tillable farmland, and you don't see this amount of productive Midwestern farmland selling at auction every day," said R.D. Schrader, president of Schrader Real Estate & Auction Company, which will market the properties and conduct the auction. "With today's strong commodity prices, farmland is more attractive than ever for farmers and investors alike," he said.

The property will be sold in four different sessions over a two-day period:

  • At 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 425 acres in Hendricks and Boone counties, Indiana, will sell in tracts ranging from 16 to 135 acres. The event will be held at the Boone County Fairgrounds Community Building.

  • At 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at the Charlottesville Lions Club, 296 acres in Hancock County will sell in eight tracts, ranging from 19 acres to 80 acres.

  • At 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov.6, at the Mount Sterling Community Center, 529 acres in Ohio's Pickaway County will sell in five tracts, ranging from 48 acres to 144 acres.

  • At 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 195 acres in Shelby County, Ohio will sell in three tracts -- 40 acres, 58 acres and 97 acres. The session will be held at the Auglaize County Junior Fair Building in Wapakoneta, Ohio.

"The remarkable thing about these four events is that they all feature highly productive soils and excellent road access. By selling the farms in tracts, we're opening the process up to more prospective buyers, who can bid just on the tracts that best meet their needs and budget. Simultaneously, bidders can bid on the entire offering at each of the individual sessions," said Schrader.
