Company Conducted College Based Summer Camps for Kids at Georgetown, Columbia, UCLA & DePaul Universities, Among Others

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwire - September 1, 2010) -  Lead-America.org, a leader in academic based summer programs for college bound students, conducted high school medical summer programs at top universities like Georgetown, Columbia, DePaul, UCLA, Bentley and UC Berkeley. The 10-day summer programs focus on preparation for college and exposes students to hands on experiences and top speakers from the healthcare community.

The college summer programs for outstanding teens, focusing on healthcare and medicine, featured speakers such as Assistant Surgeon General Rear Admiral Michael R. Milner and Dean of Columbia University's School of Nursing Mary O'Neil Mundinger.

Students attending these high school medical summer programs participated in activities such as the Standardized Patient Clinical Encounter Workshop, where patients were represented by actors trained to portray the patient case developed for the Medicine & Healthcare Program Simulation. State of the art robotic patient simulators, allowing attendees to participate in a true to life medical emergency, were also part of the program.

"Academically motivated high school students crave a preview of what college life will be like. These high school medical summer programs are developed to do just that, while at the same time exposing them to the healthcare industry," said Dr. Jan Sikorsky, LeadAmerica's Director of Academics. "Our college based summer camps and programs offer on site programs at top universities, with a chance to participate in hands on exercises in an area of interest."
