High School Students to See the Dangers of Driving "Wasted"

Attention: Assignment Editor, Education Editor, News Editor, Photo Editor OAKVILLE/ONTARIO/MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - April 5, 2010) - MADD Canada is bringing its powerful new high school program to Manitoba to educate students about the very real dangers of impaired driving. Wasted, the 2009-2010 High School Multi-Media Assembly Program, makes its Winnipeg debut on April 7.

Media are welcome to join students, staff and guests for this special presentation:

Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 9:15 a.m.
St. John's High School
401 Church Ave. , Winnipeg, MB

MADD Canada National President Margaret Miller; Manitoba Public Insurance representative Ward Keith; and members of the school staff and student body will be available to speak with media about the program.

Young people never think a road crash will happen to them, but the numbers tell a different story. Road crashes are the number one cause of teen death in Canada and alcohol is a factor in 45% of those crashes. MADD Canada is working to reduce the number of young people being killed or injured in alcohol-related crashes.

Wasted tells the fictional story of popular high school student Jake, and his friends Kelly and Drew, and how their lives are forever changed when one wrong decision leads to a horrific car crash.

With the generous support of Provincial Sponsor Manitoba Public insurance, Wasted will be delivered to 60 high schools throughout the province. This year, for the first time, a full French High School Multi-Media Assembly Program is also available. Fini is being delivered to five Manitoba high schools, thanks again to Manitoba Public Insurance.

Interview opportunities are available with MADD Canada spokespeople about the provincial launch of this national program. Please contact MADD Canada for details and to find out when Wasted will be visiting your community.
