Higher Demand for Housing in Windsor

LONDON, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 25, 2013) - The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) released its Spring Housing Market Outlook report for the Windsor Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) today. Sales of existing homes will increase in 2013 but new home starts will ease. Prices in the resale home market will increase faster than the rate of inflation in 2013 in Windsor.

"Demand for resale homes from repeat buyers will increase moderately in 2013 as stronger economic growth in the U.S. translates into jobs in Windsor-Essex. An expanding population will support greater new home construction in 2014," said Margot Stevenson, CMHC Market Analyst for the Windsor CMA.

As Canada's national housing agency, CMHC draws on more than 65 years of experience to help Canadians access a variety of quality, environmentally sustainable and affordable housing solutions. CMHC also provides reliable, impartial and up-to-date housing market reports, analysis and knowledge to support and assist consumers and the housing industry in making informed decisions.
