Hightail Launches New Android App to Help More People Access, Share and Track Files on the Go

CAMPBELL, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 10, 2014) - Leading file sharing service Hightail today announced a new app that will help users of Android devices to store, access, share and track files on the go. With 78% of the world's smartphones built on Google's operating system1, Hightail has completely revamped its Android app to provide more of its 45 million global users with a complete mobile file sharing experience.

As well as a fresh look and feel, Hightail for Android now boasts great new features like sharing controls, file activity tracking and support for eight languages, including English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese and Russian.

"Hightail's DNA is based around file sharing with control and insights," explains Hightail Chief Product Officer, Matte Scheinker. "As mobile use skyrockets, we wanted to ensure our Android users had access to these valuable features."

Users sharing files with Hightail for Android can now ensure that only the intended recipient can access their work by adding a sharing control like passwords and identity confirmation. They can also set a file to expire by date and request a notification when a shared file has been downloaded. The brand new file activity tracker provides a complete overview of who downloaded a file and when that happened.

"Both personal and business users benefit from the insights and peace of mind provided by our new Android app," adds Scheinker. "You stay in control of your data even from your phone, while our tracking feature provides valuable insights whether you're sending final deliverables to a client or pitching a prospect. Crucially, we also offer unlimited storage so professional users can access and share any file even when they're out of the office."
