Highwoods Properties Secures Lease Renewal With CDC in Atlanta

RALEIGH, NC--(Marketwire - Apr 26, 2011) - Highwoods Properties, Inc. (NYSE: HIW), one of the largest owners and operators of office properties in the Southeast, today announced that it has renewed a lease for 100,800 square feet at 1825 Century Center in Atlanta with the General Services Administration ("GSA") on behalf of the Centers for Disease Control ("CDC"). The Company originally developed 1825 Century Center for the CDC and the federal agency continues to occupy 100% of this property.

Ed Fritsch, President and CEO of Highwoods, stated, "We are pleased the GSA has chosen to renew and extend its long-term commitment with Highwoods and we thank the GSA and the CDC for this renewal. The GSA currently leases 328,000 square feet at Century Center on behalf of the CDC and this location is a key part of their Atlanta operations. This new lease is effective when the current lease expires in July 2012 and includes no concessions and minimal leasing capex."
