SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 3, 2007 -- An impressive set of luminaries, including Senator Hillary Clinton, Jeff Immelt, CEO of General Electric (NYSE: GE) and Arun Sarin, CEO, Vodafone, (NYSE: VOD) today were announced as keynote speakers for this year's IIT 2007 Global alumni conference. Now in its fifth year, the annual event, to be held in Santa Clara, California, from July 6-8, 2007, is renowned for bringing together industry visionaries, thought leaders and IIT alumni from across the globe. PanIIT, the global IIT alumni association which is organizing the event, expects to attract more than 4,000 graduates of the IIT system, one of the world's most respected educational institutions.

"The theme of the 2007 conference is Transforming the World through Technology," said PanIIT President Dilip Venkatachari. "The event will showcase the impact of the IITs and its alumni in driving innovation, creating new enterprises, and enabling social transformation in India, the US and throughout the world."

In addition to the roster of keynote speakers, some of the world's most distinguished thinkers, many of whom are IIT alumni, will examine and explore new frontiers of thought and technology, identifying and examining the next trends that will have broad global impact, such as Web 2.0 and Clean Tech. This list includes Nobel Laureate Arno Allan Penzias (1978 Nobel Prize in physics), Carnegie Mellon University President Jared L. Cohon, McKinsey's Rajat Gupta, Keynote CEO Umang Gupta, leading VC Vinod Khosla, Headstrong CEO Arjun Malhotra, entrepreneur and philanthropist Kanwal Rekhi, and iGATE's Sunil Wadhwani.

Aside from fostering discussion and debate on some of the world's most important business and societal issues, this three day conference will also serve as a forum for IITians from all over the world to re-establish old bonds, create new friendships and network with fellow alumni, faculty, and their families. Specific tracks at the conference are focused on alumni interactions and there will be batch reunions as well as events for spouses.

"The 2007 conference will build on the very successful IIT 2006 conference in Mumbai that was inaugurated by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (President of India)," said Ashu Garg, PanIIT vice president of marketing. "The PanIIT movement is rapidly picking up steam. In 2006, we had conferences in Mumbai, Singapore and Toronto, and in 2007, there are regional events planned in Paris and Tokyo, in addition to the Global Conference in Santa Clara."
